The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Viet Nam organizes a Webinar on Bilateral Investment Promotion between Sri Lanka and Viet NamSlembassy
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka and the Foreign Investment Agency of Viet Nam organized a Webinar on Bilateral Investment Promotion between Sri Lanka and Viet Nam on 14th September 2023 via virtual mode with the participation of 52 registered participants.
Ambassador Dr. Saj U. Mendis welcomed and enlightened the gathering on why investing in Sri Lanka at this juncture could be beneficial to Vietnamese investors, considering the strategic location of Sri Lanka with easy access to markets in the East and the West, educated and adaptive work force at competitive wage rates, trade agreements providing market access not only to Sri Lanka, but also to India, Pakistan and EU and to China, Singapore and Thailand with the new trade agreements to be entered with. He invited the Vietnamese investors to consider investing in Sri Lanka as this is the best time for that as the country is rapidly recovering from its economic challenges.
Mrs. Renuka M. Weerakone, Director General of Board of Investment of Sri Lanka welcomed the gathering and extended the full cooperation and support of BOI Sri Lanka for the Vietnamese investors while Mr. Prasanjith Wijayathilake, Executive Director of Board of Investment of Sri Lanka presented in detail on the investment policies, opportunities, and the incentives offered to investors.
Mr. Revan Wickramasuriya, Director, Financial Services and Compliance, Colombo Port City Economic Commission presented on the investment opportunities available and also the investment incentives provided in the port city.
Ms. Do Quynh Nga, Director, Investment Promotion Centre of Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) of Viet Nam presented on the Investment Opportunities and incentives available in Viet Nam while Mr. Tran Quoc Trung, Deputy Director General, Department of Economic Zone Management of Ministry of Planning and Investment presented on the investment opportunities and investment incentives available in the Special Economic Zones in Viet Nam.
Ms. Kishani Wickramasinghe, Minister (Commercial) of the Embassy of Sri Lanka delivering the concluding remarks, mentioned that the Embassy is ready to support any interested investor anytime by providing information on incentives, guidelines etc., and connecting with relevant agencies in Sri Lanka and invited Vietnamese investors to consider Sri Lanka as their investing destination.
