Profile of Mr. Prasanna Gamage, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam
Mr. Prasanna Gamge joined the Sri Lanka Foreign Service in 1998.
He has served in Sri Lanka High Commissions in Singapore and London and as Sri Lanka’s Director at the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) in Kathmandu from July 2012 to September 2014. He was also the Consul General of Sri Lanka in Melbourne from October 2015 to April 2019 with jurisdiction over the Australian States of Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.
Mr. Gamage has served in the Political Affairs of West, Protocol, Economic Affairs, Overseas Administration and South Asia and SAARC and Overseas Administration Divisions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka. Before his appointment as Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Viet Nam he served as the Director General of Policy Planning, Research and Human Resources Development of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka.
He has represented Sri Lanka at BIMSTEC, SAARC, NAM, UNGA and Commonwealth meetings. He is also a Fellow of the United Nations Fellowships of Disarmament and a Fellow of the Asia Pacific Centre for Security Studies, Hawaii, USA.
Mr. Gamage holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture with specialization in Agricultural Economics and Extension from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka.
He is married to Dr. (Ms.) Vasantha Wickramanayake and they have a daughter and a son.
