Advisory Notice: Storm No. 3 Wipha
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Hanoi brings to the attention of all Sri Lankan nationals in Viet Nam that the Vietnamese authorities have issued an alert regarding Storm No. 3 – Wipha. Storm No. 3 is moving rapidly into the East Sea. This storm is forecast to be very strong, dangerous and has a wide range of influence on both land and sea.
According to the National Center for Hydro -Meteorological Forecasting at 1:00 p.m. on July 21, the center of storm No. 3 was about 120km from Quang Ninh, about 260km east of Hai Phong, about 280km from Hung Yen, and about 310km east-northeast of Ninh Binh.
All non-essential travel to and within Vietnam should be avoided until the typhoon has passed and local authorities have confirmed that it is safe.
Residents in vulnerable areas are strongly urged to follow evacuation orders from local authorities. It is crucial to move to higher ground or designated shelters well before the typhoon makes landfall.
