Repatriation of stranded Sri Lankans from Viet Nam
On the 02nd of July 2020, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Viet Nam, under the guidance of the Presidential Secretariat and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka and with the assistance of the Government of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, successfully repatriated 65 Sri Lankan nationals who were stranded in Viet Nam due to the COVID – 19.
The VietJet Air of Viet Nam arranged for a special flight from Ha Noi for this repatriation. Incidentally, the VietJet flight VJ 5968 to Colombo was flown by two Sri Lankan Captains: Mark Silva and Subki Lafir with their Vietnamese colleague Capt. Le Anh Tuan, assisted by First Officer Thiwanka Silva, another Sri Lankan.
