Ambassador Mendis and officials meet with Deputy Director General of Consular of Foreign Office of Ha Noi
Ambassador Prof Saj Mendis, along with Minister Counselor Mahesh Premathilake and Embassy officers i.e. Ms Lan Nguyen and Anh Nguyen, met with Mr Luong Thanh Quang, Deputy Director General of Consular Department and senior most officials to discuss and broach issues relating to nationals of Sri Lanka, including migrants, in Viet Nam. Mr Luong Thanh Quang is the second senior most diplomatic officer of the entire Consular Department, which is considered as a pivotal Department not only in the Foreign Office but also in the Governmental apparatus of Viet Nam. The congenial and affable yet highly focused and productive discussion lasted approximately 40 minutes. During the discussion, Ambassador Mendis and Minister Counselor Premathilake expressed sincere appreciation to the Consular Department for the assistance, facilitation and cooperation extended to nationals of Sri Lanka, when they were in difficult and burdensome situations. Both the Consular Department and the Embassy agreed in order to address certain challenging and exacting situations and circumstances, the two institutions would function in close coordination and accommodation in a concerted manner, thus enabling them to attain the desired results and outcomes.
