The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Viet Nam organized a Tourism Promotional event
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Vietnam, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), hosted a tourism promotional event on October 30 at the Ambassador’s Residence. This event targeted Vietnamese media, travel agents, and tourism industry representatives, including members from the Vietnam Tourism Association (VITA) and the Vietnam Society of Travel Agents (VISTA), with over 30 participants in attendance.

Ambassador Poshitha Perera presented Sri Lanka’s unique and lesser-known tourist attractions, aiming to appeal to the Vietnamese market. The event included tourism videos and recorded messages from Mr. Buddhika Hewawasam, Chairman of SLTPB, and Mr. Shanthikumar, President of the Tourist Hotels Association of Sri Lanka (THASL), with Vietnamese translations. Attendees also enjoyed first-hand testimonials from the past Vietnam familiarization tour participants, followed by a Q&A session. The evening concluded with a tasting of authentic Sri Lankan cuisine, offering guests a cultural experience.

Vietnam, with a population exceeding 100 million and a growing middle-income group seeking new travel destinations, presents a promising market for Sri Lankan tourism. Last year’s outbound tourism from Vietnam reached approximately 5 million, underscoring the potential for Sri Lanka to become a favored destination among Vietnamese travelers.
