Advisory Notice: Super Typhoon Yagi Alert
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Hanoi brings to the attention of all Sri Lankan nationals in Viet Nam that the Vietnamese authorities have issued an alert regarding Typhoon Yagi. The typhoon is expected to enter the waters of east of Hainan Island on 06 September, with wind speeds of up to 103 mph. Yagi is highly likely to affect the sea and mainland of the northern and north-central regions of Viet Nam.
The Northeast, Thanh Hoa, and Northwest areas are forecasted to experience heavy rainfall ranging from 100-300mm over the next 24 to 48 hours, from the night of 06 September to the night of 07 September.
All non-essential travel to and within Vietnam should be avoided until the typhoon has passed and local authorities have confirmed that it is safe.
Residents in vulnerable areas are strongly urged to follow evacuation orders from local authorities. It is crucial to move to higher ground or designated shelters well before the typhoon makes landfall.
