Foundation stone laying ceremony of outer wall around Bodhi Tree at Bai Dinh pagoda
Foundation stone laying ceremony for construction of outer wall around Bodhi Tree was taken place on 14 July 2024 with the participation of Senior officials of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Ha Noi and the high religious authorities in Bai Dinh pagoda led by Most Venerable Thich Minh Quang, Chief Abbot of Bai Dinh pagoda in Ninh Binh province.
The Central Cultural Fund in Sri Lanka will provide the technical expertise and supervision in designing statues around the outer wall of Bodhi Tree including Moon Stone, Lame Stone and Guard Stone. This initiative will promote Sri Lankan identity and image within Viet Nam in the years ahead while marking important milestone in Sri Lanka and Viet Nam Buddhist and Cultural relations.
Mr. Nguyen Van Truong, Director and Mr. Nguyen Van Trung, Vice Director of Xuan Truong construction company along with the senior officials of the Bai Dinh pagoda attended the ceremony.
Madame Ho Thi Thanh Truc, former Viet Nam Ambassador to Sri Lanka who was instrumental in bringing the sacred Bo sapling from Sri Lanka to Bai Dinh pagoda also graced the ceremony.
A sapling of Jayasiri Maha Bodhi Tree was offered to Bai Dinh Pagoda by Bomaluwa Temple in Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka and planted at the premises of Bai Dinh spiritual area complex on 25 March 2023.
