Visit of the Vietnamese Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development to Sri Lanka
Hon. Le Minh Hoan , Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Viet Nam along with twenty senior officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and other respective institutions undertook a visit to Sri Lanka on 18 February 2024 to participate in the 37th Session of the Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Colombo Sri Lanka.
The delegation headed by Hon. Le Minh Hoan, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development had a bilateral meeting with the Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka on 21 February 2024 and discussed potential areas of cooperation in many spheres such as in digital and smart agriculture, people oriented-rural development in particular and historical cultural and political relations based on Buddhism and Socialism.
On the sidelines of the regional FAO conference in Colombo, Hon. Le Minh Hoan, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Viet Nam had a Bilateral meeting with Hon. Mahinda Amaraweera, Minister of Agriculture and Plantations industries in Sri Lanka on 21 February 2024 in Colombo and signed the Work Plan for Agriculture Development Cooperation between Sri Lanka and Viet Nam for the year 2024-2026 to implement objectives underlined in the MOU on Agriculture Cooperation between Sri Lanka and VietNam.
Her Excellency Mdm. Ho Thi Thanh Truc, Viet Nam Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Viet Nam delegation also had a fruitful discussion with the authorities of Tea sector in Sri Lanka on Tea Sector Cooperation between Viet Nam and Sri Lanka during their field visit to Tea estates in Central province.
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Viet Nam and Embassy of VietNam in Sri Lanka coordinated and facilitated the visit of Le Hon. Minh Hoan, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Viet Nam and the senior Vietnamese official delegation to Sri Lanka from 18-21 February 2024.
