Meeting with Most Venerable Thich Duc Thien, Secretary General of the Executive Council of Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha at Quan Su Pagoda
Prof. Saj. A. U Mendis, Sri Lanka Ambassador to Viet Nam along with the Minister Counsellor had a courtesy call meeting with Most Venerable Thich Duc Thien, Secretary General of the Executive Council of Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) at the Quan Su Pagoda in Ha Noi on 26 June 2023.
Quan Su Pagoda is the Head Quarters of the Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha and the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Ha Noi has a longstanding relations with the Quan Su Pagoda since the establishment of Embassy of Sri Lanka in Ha Noi in 2023.
While warmly welcoming Prof. Mendis, VBS recollected the memories of their recent visit to Sri Lanka in which they had successful meetings with Hon. Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs in Sri Lanka.
During the meeting, Prof. Mendis reviewed historical Buddhist and cultural relations between Sri Lanka and Viet Nam and appreciated the noteworthy role played by the Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha to strengthen the relations between the two countries while appreciating their humanitarian donations for purchasing medicines for the neediest patients in hospitals in Sri Lanka in 2022 and 2023.
Prof. Mendis assured his fullest cooperation for the future endeavors of the Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha for promoting religious and cultural cooperation between two countries.
While wishing successful tenure for Prof. Mendis, Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha did a religious blessing for the people in Sri Lanka in particular and the Sri Lankan Embassy officials in general for their health, happiness and wellbeing.
