Phan Quan Hieu, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam, and members of the Diplomatic Corps in Ha Noi, celebrated the 72<sup>nd<\/sup> \u00a0Independence Day of Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-784 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/slembassyvn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/DEP_4363-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The celebrations commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by Ambassador Gamage, followed by singing of the national anthem. Thereafter, two minutes of silence were observed in memory of those who have sacrificed their lives for the sake of the nation. \u00a0The traditional oil lamp was lit by the Ambassador and other dignitaries, which was followed by multi-faith religious observances.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-783 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/slembassyvn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/276A3870-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>National Day messages of H E the President, Hon. Prime Minister of Sri Lanka and Hon. Minister of Foreign Relations of Sri Lanka were read during the event.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-789 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/slembassyvn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/276A3842-1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Delivering his own National Day message, Ambassador Gamage emphasized upon the warm and friendly relations between Sri Lanka and Viet Nam and highlighted the fact that both countries will be celebrating the establishment of 50<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of diplomatic relations this year. Mr. Gamage underlined Sri Lanka\u2019s embarking on a new path of development in formulating national policies which will focus on national security, stability and law and order in the country, while empowering the people\u2019s economic well-being and livelihood.
